Barranquismo, or descending canyons and ravines, is a semi-aquatic sport that combines different disciplines like caving and mountain climbing; and is at a federal level for many years, and shared by the federations of mountain and rock climbing, and caving. Today, barranquismo is a sport that needs its own spacific materials.
Its practice has balance between a very serious activity to even scientific, and also dangerous if security measures aren't practiced in a proper manner. Safety is very relative, as in a ravine or canyon, you are in a forced and potentially dangerous situation of perhaps falling off the rocks, slipping, water flow gushes, etc. |
