Whales and dolphins that venture in and out of the Mediterranean Sea pass through the Straits of Gibraltar. Tarifa hosts various companies which organise whale- and dolphin watch excursions. From the high points along the coastline, it is with a good amount of patience and a pair of good binoculars possible, to spot cetaceans travelling closer to the shore.

The so called striped and common dolphins are found in the Straights of Gibraltar all year round. Sometimes, with a bit of luck, you may see dolphins and whales during your trip to tangiers, as they like to swimm for a spell along the ferry.
