For something out of the ordinary, go for a walk amongst the windmills on the hills surrounding Tarifa. The sound of the hundreds of windmills on a windy day is very impressive. The larger ones have blades with a diameter of more than 50m!

About 2 km before Tarifa (coming from Algeciras), just before the bridge, turn right into a small gravel road to have a look at the biggest windmills in the region, giving up to 1500 kW of power.

All the windmills in the Tarifa area together, provide power for approximately 300'000 inhabitants.
